Our weekend

This past weekend went by too fast. On Friday night we got a babysitter and went with some friends to the Carolina Hurricanes hockey game. Okay that’s misleading…we drove to the hockey game. I had called the ticket office a few weeks before asking if it is possible to get tickets the day of the game. I was being cheap and didn’t want to pay the $5 fee to buy tickets online. The kind gentleman said that they rarely ever sold out and when they did, it would be on a weekend night playing a great team. Pittsburg must have been a great team because on our way to the arena, traffic was HORRIBLE and they all seemed to be going to the same place we were. When we pulled in to park we asked the lady, who was about to collect our $8 for parking, if there were any tickets left. She informed us that the only tickets available were $85 for standing.
We considered standing at the entrance of the parking lot and making each car pay $2 to park and just tell them that they will have to pay another $8 when they drive up to the next person ($10 total seems like a nice round number for parking). When we each collected our $85 we’d go watch the game. We realized that probably wouldn’t be legal so we left. On our way to the freeway entrance we saw an accident. You could tell by their hockey jersey’s that they were going to the game. We considered stopping to ask if we could have their tickets since they probably wouldn’t be going anymore. Then we realized that might be very inconsiderate of us. So…we opted to go to Maggiano’s, an amazing Italian restaurant.
Some of you may be thinking…didn’t they already go to a hockey game for Valentines day. We ended up not going because of babysitter issues so we were going on Friday to make up for it. It seems we are not meant to go.
On Saturday we played games with our friends, Derrald and Lauren. We watched the UNC vs. Duke basketball game on TV after church on Sunday. It was a great game and UNC won. March Madness will be a little more exciting this year since we actually have a team that could take it.

That is so funny! I bet the car wreck people would have passed over the tickets, ya think?
Well, I hope you make it to a game pretty soon here. Sounds like it’ll be fun cheering on your teams while you’re out there!

Hate it when that happens, especially if you’re the one in charge. The Italian restaurant sounds like an excellent second choice. The last Hockey game we went to was like a boxing match. When the first period ended, every player on the ice took their helmets off and started going at it. The refs just stood there talking. We thought it was a joke until a guy started getting his head smashed in the ice- then the refs stepped in. Another guy was laying on the ice face up as if dead for five minutes, until someone came over to help. I kind of felt like throwing up, but a lot of people, especially teenage boys, seemed to like it.

You guys have such school spirit (UNC march madness approaching). How fun. Oh, and I agree with Jennifer on the not so impressed with watching people fight part.
