Birthday Splash Bash!

by Kerrie on May.11, 2007, under Baby, Kerrie

We finally got around to having Allie’s birthday party. The “pool party” was originally planned for her birthday but the weather did not cooperate so we had it two days later. She and five other kids splashed in the pool for awhile and then we had pizza, fruit salad, chips and cake. She opened presents and got some fun toys from all her buddies. We ended the party by giving each kid a goody bag.

Warning: This paragraph is for my own journaling. The theme of the party was centered around beach/pool party. We sent out beach ball invitations. All the plates were beach balls or beached theme and some of the food was served out of sand pails. They had Capri-sun Splash Cooler drinks to go along with the beachball cake. There were also cupcakes with the beachball design made out of m&m’s. The goody bag was actually a sand pail with toys in it.

I had fun putting this together but Jake thinks that I spent way too much time, effort and money on planning a 2 year old’s party. He’s probably right, considering Allie will never remember this but I enjoy party planning. I’m hosting a bunko party next week so it’s on to planning the next party.

The kids were looking at the pictures and Kayelynn says “Happy to you” Allie! Looks like you all had fun. Welcome to the terrible two’s, but maybe she’ll hold off a little longer with the transition. :)

Wow Kerrie – that’s awesome! I love the cake! Allie is getting so big. :) I’m still waiting for Porter’s terrible twos to hit… and he’s three! I bet it’ll be more like the terrible 10′s or 13′s. ;) I hope everythings going great for you guys. Happy Birthday Allie!

I always loved it when mom would play up a holiday theme. Allie will remember it through the pictures. What a cute mommy you are! The beach ball cake is awesome!

I loathe kids birthday parties, but that cake! How did you do it? You must let us in on the secret.

    Happy Birthday Allie baby!!

Thanks for all the compliments on the cake. It actually wasn’t very hard…it just took a lot of time. I borrowed a ball cake pan from a friend (she did a basketball for her boy the year before). Frosting the cake was tedious work but it was fun to see the finished product. The sand around the ball was crushed vanilla wafers.

That cake really is impressive…and inspiring. You’ve got lots of hidden talents! I can’t believe Allie is two already! She is looking more like a little girl, and less like a baby. What a lucky kid to have such a fabulous party with so many friends and the coolest parents! Happy Birthday Allie from Diego!

    Kerrie,

It’s Moms like you that make the rest of us feel guilty every time we buy a store bought cake. I tried to make Anthony a Nemo cake last year for his Birthday and it looked so bad that Matt thought the kids had frosted it! LOL! Oh well.

Allie is looking more like a toddler, less like a baby. That’s always a little sad.
