Allie Update

by Kerrie on Jun.14, 2007, under Baby, Kerrie

Nothing too exciting is going on at the moment; although the next few weeks promise some fun posts with our anniversary, my birthday, and July 4th coming up. For now, Allie and I have been having fun doing our usual daily routines.

At least once a day we do an activity on her mini table (a fabulous purchase from Ikea in Sacramento). We usually paint, play with play-doh, color, or play with dried beans. I hide her crayons in a big bowl of dried beans and then she has to shuffle through the beans to find them.

Here’s a picture of Allie painting. It’s a messy project and I am so grateful for washable paints. I was surprised at how easy the paint cleans up.

Allie also likes to help me around the house. She refills the bird feeder, wipes down the tables, throws her trash and diapers in the garbage, and just this week she helped me with the dishes. I’m sometimes tempted to do everything myself because if I let Allie clean, it takes double the time and I usually have to redo what she did anyway. But I just have to tell myself that if I’m patient with the learning process now, I’ll be rewarded with a great helper later (fingers crossed that she’ll continue to enjoy cleaning).

Last week I decided to do a photo shoot of Allie. It didn’t go as well as I had hoped. Allie was being her two-year-old, independent self and did not want to smile or even look at the camera. I needed another person there to help me. Actually, I just need Kelli here to take the pictures for me ;) . Here are a few of the photos straight from the camera. I probably should do some editing in photoshop. Another day.

I love Allie updates. She has the prettiest blue eyes. I think your pictures are great. I wish you could come down and take some of Hannah…..and what a great idea to have Allie already learning how to clean up. It’s really good for her to learn at such a young age!

I recognize the hand chair that Allie is next to. It is in the Rose Garden by Duke University, right? That’s a great place to take photos. Glad to see Allie doing the dishes. We have a picture of you at three doing the dishes. Its clean fun, keeps them busy, helps them learn how to clean and feel independent. But, it is more work for mom too. She sure is cute.

She is growing up to be quite a little girl! Her pigtails are darned cute.
It’s great when their two, they are independent, but they want to help and learn how and why everything works. It’s a great way to introduce the later dreaded chores.

Good for you for getting Allie to do chores at such a young age. I have to tell myself the same thing when the kids have Chore Time but it will be worth it someday.

I think the pictures look great. I LOVE the middle one..great expression and background. We’ll have to take some of Allie when you guys come because I decided that if people come visit me, they get a free photoshoot. Is that bribery?? He. he.he. I have the cutest petticoat that would look SO adorable on her in her piggytails. (P.S. I recently put a picture of Allie on my website that I took when she was 1. It’s pretty cute!)

What a gorgeous girl Allie is! I wish we could see her in person all of the time. She and Sienna would be the best of buds. Keep up the good work in teaching her chores. Hopefully by the time a second one comes around, she’ll be able to do a lot more. It’s easier now to teach her work than later when she’s more stubborn, less willing to help, and more kids to take care of. You’re an awesome mom!

What a fun mom you are! Allie gets to do so many fun activities. She must be at a fun age right now. The pictures of her are beautiful too!
