Final summer hurrah

by Kerrie on Aug.26, 2007, under Kerrie, Thoughts

School started for Jake on Thursday but we are trying to squeeze in a few more summer activities before the semester starts getting crazy. We and our friends rented canoes at a lake that we just discovered. The lake is literally 3 miles away and we never knew it existed. Unfortunately, no swimming is allowed. I was so tempted to jump in the water though…it was extremely hot. We rowed around for awhile then docked at a small beach area and had snacks. It was so peaceful there. I felt like I was in a movie based in Venice with my umbrella in hand and my hubby rowing behind me. It was a great way to start out the weekend.

Wow! North Carolina is so beautiful! Good luck to Jake with a new semester. Hopefully you feel refreshed and rejuvenated after all the summer fun. How come you couldn’t swim in the water? My kids swam in a large pond in July and got “swimmer’s itch.” They were itching like crazy for about a day until I gave them Benadryl. Anyway, looked relaxing.

Good thing you guys didn’t go in. You might have gotten the dreaded “swimmers’ itch”. What on earth is that? Anyone got a microscope, I bet we could have seen some interesting things in that water. Anyway, looks like you guys were having fun. It looks hot there too. Keep having fun. It goes by fast beleive it or not. :)

I’ve only been canoing once but it was a lot of fun. It’s great that you guys are doing all these fun things. Know of any canoing places in Utah??

How exciting to find something so close, I’ll bet that would be beautiful with the fall colors too…Good luck with classes this year Jake.

How funny that you never knew it was there. I’m sure there will be much more to discover! We can’t wait to see it in person!
