The Big 3-0!
by Kerrie on Nov.20, 2007, under Jake
Jake didn’t want to blog about his 30th birthday, in fact, he’d like to pretend turning 30 never happened. But I think he would agree that he had a great day yesterday. So, I’ll fill you in on the birthday fun.
On Saturday we got a babysitter and went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. It was our first time there and we were not disappointed. We were only disappointed at how much we ate! We should have saved more for leftovers.
On Monday we went to breakfast at a local diner and filled up on pancakes, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, eggs, oatmeal, and hot chocolate. In the afternoon, his PhD buddies surprised him by taking him golfing. Four and a half hours later he returned home to one of his favorite homemade meals, chicken tikka masala. Then we had about 15 friends over for cheesecake and games. We were planning to go to a movie that night but after being out most of the day Jake decided he wanted to stay home. So we watched a movie at home. It was a great day!

So happy to hear Jake had a great day. He deserves it. That cheesecake looks awesome! I’m interested in some of the things people wrote about Jake, although I understand that might be embarrassing to him. I still remember my 30th birthday. That was almost 25 years ago!! You are still a youngster, Jake. Enjoy your thirties, they are wonderful.
Kerrie maybe you can make that Chicken tikka misala when you come out for Christmas? Sounds delish. Love you guys.

Jake- it’s an honor and privelidge to welcome you to the club. May you laugh in the face of the twenty somethings and bask in the warming glow of the knowledge and wisdom you have under your belt. Welcome, Jake, to the “dirty thirties”.
PS- glad you had a great birthday. I heart Texas Roadhouse.

PS again. I just read through my comment and realized I spelled privilege wrong. I am not basking in the glow of knowledge.

Yeah for Jake! Happy Birthday to ya! Thirty-something is not too bad so far–especially when people tell you that you don’t look that old. I remember when mom turned 30. She had a shirt that said “29 and still holding” or something like that. It was ages ago though
. Kerrie, I want that chicken tikka masala recipe. Could you email it to me?
