Our family vacation

We headed south to Myrtle Beach, SC last week for a much needed vacation. Our hotel was right on the beach so we spent most of our time in the water. When we weren’t at the beach or swimming in the hotel’s many pools, we hit the outlet mall and Alligator Adventure. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay and hope to continue this summer tradition until we move away from North Carolina. Here are some pictures:
This was our view from our balcony. Luke was kind enough to wake us up early so we could watch the sun rise on the Atlantic ocean. Although I would have rather been sleeping, it was beautiful! (I didn’t get a picture of it though).

As soon as both kids were awake, we ate a quick breakfast then headed to the beach. I think this was around 7:45AM.
Here’s Jake and Luke taking a walk. Both weather and water were warm…perfect! However, a few hours later the rain clouds rolled in and started pouring. We would have continued playing on the beach had we not had a 3 month old with us. So instead, we went swimming at the pool.
The hotel had five different pools; three of them were specifically designed for children. They had an indoor and outdoor section. Allie loved the pool, however, she steered clear of any tipping water buckets. She didn’t like getting her head wet.
Here’s a picture of the outdoor kiddie pool.
Jake and Allie chillin in the lazy river.
We were waiting for an animal show to begin at Alligator Adventure. Luke wasn’t as excited about it.
Allie got to pet a baby alligator. It was extremely humid there, hence the crazy hair we both have.
Luke fast asleep in dad’s arms. Yes, those are alligators behind him.
We got to watch them feed the alligators raw chicken. Holy schnikes those are some scary creatures!
They did have other animals and reptiles, including this very large tortoise.
Here is an albino alligator. Quite an ugly site.
So, can anyone tell me the difference between a crocodile and alligator (without cheating and googling it)? I found out the main difference at one of their animal shows.
When we arrived home we bathed the kiddies and put them to bed.

Cute pictures! Those alligators do look pretty scary. It looks like a fun vaca, though, and that beach is BEAUTIFUL! The only difference that I know between alligators and crocodiles is that crocodiles’ teeth are shown when their mouths are closed, while alligators’ are not…but that might not be the right answer.

Ok- just googled it and I was close to being right, but not exactly….whoops:)

I am so jealous! That beach is beautiful. I so miss the beach. So glad you guys could get away for a short while even with a three month old! I think that would be a great tradition. Allie looks like she enjoyed every minute of it. Those alligators are scary looking. That man feeding them should use something other than his hand to hold out the chicken, don’t ya think?? Those things belong with the dinosaurs!! Love ya – oh, Luke and Allie look adorable in their green towels.

what a fun trip. my kids would really enjoy the alligator show. I learned on “dirty jobs” the difference between the two reptiles, but I can’t seem to remember…something about teeth and size, I think.
the kiddos are really growing up, what cuties!!

Allie looks more and more like Jake every day! They grow up so fast don’t they! It looks like you had a lot of fun. My family needs a family vacation soooo bad, but right now is the busy work season for my hubby- so who knows when that will happen for us!

What a fun trip! You are so lucky to be able to explore another part of our country. The kids are growing so fast. I think the difference between a crocodile and alligator is the shape of their mouths (crocs are more rounded) and the way they open their mouths (one opens up and one opens down). I also think that crocodiles might be bigger. I don’t really know what I’m talking about though.

That looks like such a fun trip— nice hotel- right on the beach! I love how the Carolina’s ocean water is so warm. Allie and Luke are such cutie pies- can’t wait to see them in October.
