UNC National Champs!!
by Jake on Apr.08, 2009, under Jake
March Madness is over and for the first time in my life, my team won. I didn’t even pick the Tarheels to win in my bracket because I was afraid to jinx them!
So every time UNC wins something big, there is always a party on Franklin Street, which runs alongside the west end of campus. There were about 35,000 people there and it was sheer mayhem. I couldn’t pass up this opportunity, so I headed out there with a camcorder. People were climbing the stoplights and trees and tearing stuff down. There were tons of bonfires in the street and it is a tradition here at UNC to jump over the fire. So was I crazy enough to jump the fire myself? Absolutely.
Here’s some footage from Franklin Street.

WOW, CRAZEE! That looks like alot of fun and celebration. I heard about it on AI from Anoop. WTG UNC! You look cute Jake. Was there a picture of you jumping over the fire? I couldn’t tell which one was you. Glad you are enjoying your time in NC and isn’t it great to have school pride? Yay Tarheels!

I don’t think that any of my teams (UVSC or UVU, NAU, or BYU) will accomplish any national championships. I am SOOOOO jealous you can say that for yourself!!!
GO UNC
(I did pick them in my bracket)

Thayne watched the game and was excited to see UNC win. They showed the students jumping over the bonfires on ESPN. Thayne said, “I bet Jake’s there.”

Welcome to the club. Party of 30,000 in the street? It’s becoming old hat down here. Go Gators.
