Allie’s First Day of Preschool
by Kerrie on Sep.11, 2009, under Uncategorized
This is officially my last year with my little girl before she goes to all day kindergarten. I’m getting a glimpse of what it will be like now that she is in preschool 3 days a week for 4 hours. She had her first official preschool day today and although I couldn’t get much out of her on how the day went, I think she had a great time.
It was really weird not having her home. I should have gotten a lot done but somehow I didn’t. I found myself watching the time pass wondering what Allie was doing then, if she was enjoying it and if she was getting along with the other kids. I did, however, blog while she was gone (two blogs in one day…what the?) Anyway, hopefully I’ll become more efficient and productive with my time while she is gone so that I can focus on her when she gets home. Luke naps in the morning so I will be getting a lot of “me” time (although I’m not sure how long that will last since he is going from two to one nap).
Here is my sweetheart right before preschool:
Things I learned (I’m a novice at this preschool parenting stuff):
Send her with socks: she hated getting sand in her shoes at the playground and they wouldn’t allow her to take her shoes off.
Get her a backpack: she came home with like 10 different papers/flyers.
Pay tuition before the 10th: I just assumed that they would take the tuition on the FIRST day of school with out any fees, but I was wrong. It was due YESTERDAY! I was a little embarrassed and frustrated that I had to pay a late fee as were five other parents who assumed the same thing.
All in all, it was a good day for both of us and we are excited for the preschool year.

yeah!!! an update! we’ve been thinking about you and praying for you to have a successful year, glad to know things are well and busy for you all.
It’s so fun to have them out and learning, but oh so petrifying as well. Both the girls are in preschool this year and the first week, I did the same thing…got nothing done except for wondering if they were okay, liking everything, getting along and using their manners. Fortunately the teachers have already made positive comments toward their behavior without my asking.
Now I can get a lot done and not worry!!
I’ll look forward to those frequent blog updates!!!
btw, i hear you’re coming out west next month…do you know when? we would love to see you like we did last year, let me know if we can be scheduled in your popular lives

Hooray! I’m so glad that you are blogging again. I’ve missed seeing pictures of your adorable kids. Allie looks so grown up in this picture. Did you straighten her hair? She looks so cute!

She does look like such a big girl! She is so pretty.
That is lame that they charged a late fee…you would think they would give a warning if that many people didn’t know.

I am so glad that I checked your blog site. How adorable the photos are of your summer adventures. The Legoland ones are so cute. And yes, Allie looks so much older all of a sudden. Her hair is getting really long. Wow, time does go fast when you are looking back, doesn’t it? Look forward to spending a little of your time with you in Utah next month. Love you guys and miss you so much.

Wow….Allie is such a big girl. For some reason I have been feeling like my children are getting so old. Seeing this is just an affirmation of how quickly time is flying by. I know we are not at preschool yet, but it will be just around the corner I am sure. Then kindergarten, highschool, college etc…. I guess I get overwhelmed pretty easily. One step at a time right?
I am glad that you are all doing so well. Is Jake on the job market this fall? I remember that he was thinking about finishing in 4 years, right?
