A silent week on t.org
by jthornock on Apr.29, 2005, under Uncategorized
So sorry that it’s been a week. It’s been pretty busy. School has begun again, which is a great new adventure, but always time consuming. Still, I love it. Maybe I am a glutton for academic punishment, but I absolutely love it. Maybe that’s the reason that I am going on to get a PhD.
Kerrie is doing well. She’s tired alot and always uncomfortable. She’s 39 weeks tomorrow. Each night, we wonder if it’s the last good night of rest we’ll get in 40 years.
I was taking Calculus this term, but I am putting it off until next term, so that I can be home more for the baby. So, I am taking a grand total of two credits, working 10-15 hours a week, and the rest of the time will be spent preparing for the GMAT. I want to get 125 hours of study in before I attempt it in 8 weeks. Hopefully, time will afford that for me.
We’ve been trying to enjoy the ‘no kids’ as much as possible while it lasts. We went to Chinese last night and hurt ourselves with lethal doses of MSG. And we try to sleep in whenever possible. Yes, this may sound lazy, but when the going is about to get tough, take a break and prepare for it. That’s my philosophy…
What I’m up to…
by jthornock on Apr.22, 2005, under Uncategorized
Well, some of you are wondering what I have been up to on my week off. It would have been nice to hang a hammock out in the park behind our house and lounge about for a week straight but that ain’t too practical, especially for a dad-to-be.
With the help of a neighbor, Shad, and my brother, Greg, we got our car taken care of. We took it in on Monday to get a new timing belt, water pump, and tensioners. Shad, who buys and sells cars at the auctions, loaned us a car during the two days ours was in the shop. Greg spent all day today helping me (ok, actually, he did 95% of the work) install plugs, wires, filters, etc. Our car is purring like a rich lady’s cat.
Kerrie is feeling well, if uncomfortable. The baby barely has room to kick anymore, but it’s nice to feel her when she does. We’ll find out a lot of details during our doctor’s appointment on Monday. We’re now headed back there once a week. Tomorrow is 38 weeks, so by the time you read this, we could be parents!!
Hola

Hey all,
Just thought I’d let you know what we’ve been up to. We are currently loving life on the wait. We get mixed signals from Kerrie’s body and what the doctor is telling us about when the baby will come. For some reason the doctor seems to imply that the baby might be late (after May 7th) but Kerrie is already having contractions. She describes them as “more than Braxton Hicks but less than the real thing.” Could be any day…who really knows?
Kerrie is as cute and as uncomfortable as ever. She’s not real keen on pictures right now (ladies, you can relate…) so here” is a picture from about a month ago. It’s a daily event swatting off attracted men… she’s a real looker, growl!
Our house situation is finally settled, yet tight. We still have Maran and Scott living in our second room–which has been no sweat at all. They are very gone almost all of the time and they’re very considerate when they are here. After two visits from the plumber and several visits from the drywall guy, our house is finally functional–except for the furnace which is as tempermental as a thirteen year old. We are still waiting for our windows to be finished (in case you missed it, here’s the last entry).
Well, back to my errand list…gotta get it all done before school starts and/or the baby comes. Both events are coming so quickly!
Another new baby!

Tis the season! Jarin and Hollie had their baby in record time yesterday. Hollie felt her first contractions at about 5:30 and the baby was born two hours later!
Baby stats:

Very cute
Here are a few pictures for your viewing enjoyment:

You may remember that Kerrie mentioned that our baby would have alot of cousins… Jared & Melissa just had their first baby–Harrison Jared Thornock–very early on Friday morning. Harrison is a big boy weighing in at 8-11 and 20 inches long.

Internship…done!
by jthornock on Apr.15, 2005, under Uncategorized
It’s done! Well, actually I have a few more hours of minor details, but it’s done. It’s been a great ride and has left a decent taste in my mouth. I really enjoy business…I guess I picked the right major. Hawkins, Cloward & Simister is a great firm that does quality work. I’ll definitely miss this place and the people here.
So what do I do now? I dunno…sleep in
I’ve got a to-do list a mile long, mostly things to get ready for school and more importantly, for the new daughter. I’ve got 11 days until school starts again, so I’ve got to get a couple rounds of golf and some fishing in quickly!!!
This term won’t be too tough for me, which is good considering the construction that is going to happen in our home and the arrival of our daughter. I’ll also be preparing for the GMAT–which will be a battle of good and evil (think Lord of the Rings II – last battle scene…). I’m taking MBA 609 – Management Communications and MBA 693r, which is a financial accounting research readings course that I am taking from Dr. Christensen. I’ll also be working as a Research Assistant for Dr. C. over the summer and throughout the year. I sincerely look forward to that as much as anything.
Well, now that I’m done, I promise that I’ll use that new computer to upload some pictures…I’ve been neglecting that for too long. I am going to try to get a few small videos up, but that’ll be trial and error, so don’t bank on that one til it happens
Kelli’s pictures
by jthornock on Apr.08, 2005, under Uncategorized
Hey all,
I have been slacking lately getting some pictures up. Luckily, my sister Kelli was in town over Easter and took a ton pictures. You can see them here. Most of them are of her kids, Savannah and Anthony. They are so cute! There are a couple with Kerrie and I in them, a couple with Ashlee, and a couple with Greg’s kids.
Enjoy ~ thanks to Kelli.
Baby Update – Kerrie
by jthornock on Apr.06, 2005, under Uncategorized
This baby continues to grow in my belly. At my last appointment, Dr. Judd said that I was measuring the same size as other women who are currently delivering–and I still have a month left!?! Where did this giant come from? To be honest, I don’t think she will be that big. I just can’t imagine it with me being 5’4 and Jake being 6’0. We were both a little over 7 lbs when we were born so I think she’ll be around the same. I guess we’ll have to wait and see though. My doctor keeps reminding me that big babies eat and sleep better.
I just had a work baby shower. It was so fun! I love the people I work with–it’s going to be hard to say goodbye to them. We scored with the presents. We got a lot of items that will be very useful, like a Boppy, crib mattress, bathtub, bottles, etc. We still don’t have her room ready due to apartment issues but I don’t mind since she’ll be sleeping in a bassinet in our bedroom for the first couple of months.
As for the little girl, she is still active but seems to be quieting down since there isn’t much room for her to move. She gets the hiccups almost daily now. We are so excited for her. As much as I want her to be here now, I hope she waits until the beginning of May so that we have more time to get our apartment in order and prepare for her.
This little girl is going to have a lot of cousins her age. With the additions of Isabel Thornock (Greg & Eloisa) in October, Kayelynn Thornock (Jake & Terressa) in February, Baby Boy Thornock (Jared & Melissa) due any day, Sienna Stevens (Jarin & Hollie) due any day and Baby Girl Christensen (Thayne & Jen) due in August she will have plenty of cousins her age at family reunions.
Thanks for your prayers and love. We love and miss you all.
Love, Kerrie.
Computer
by jthornock on Apr.05, 2005, under Uncategorized
Well, I have been watching Slick Deals and Bens Bargains for the past three months searching for the perfect computer. Today I bought it. As of 2:00 today, the deal is still on Slick Deals, if you wanna see the actual deal. Here are the specs:
Computer: Dell Dimension 8400 series
Processor: Pentium® 4 Processor 640 with HT Technology (3.20GHz, 800 FSB)
Memory: 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM 533MHz (2x512M)
Monitor: 17 inch Ultrasharp™ 1704FPT Digital Flat Panel
Video Card: 128MB PCI Express™ x16 (DVI/VGA/TV-out) ATI Radeon™ X300 SE
Internal Hard Drive: 160GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)
Integrated Gigabit Ethernet
DVD Drive: 16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW)
I am so excited! The only bad thing is that it will take about two weeks to get here, but given the messy situation in our apartment, that might not be too bad.
Rain drops keep falling on our heads
by jthornock on Apr.04, 2005, under Uncategorized
Our house has been a literal construction zone lately. Here’s the story. Two months ago, our neighbors moved out and Kerrie’s sister, Maran, and Scott, her hubby, decided to move in. Our landlord asked them to hold off a month so that he could get some construction done in their little apartment. Oddly, work didn’t start until two weeks ago, even though they were supposed to finish by March. Due to their contract, Maran and Scott were forced out of their other apartment. So, they’re staying in our spare bedroom. From the looks of it, their apartment won’t be done for at least another two weeks.
So, with four adults stuffed into our apartment, our pipes decided to break and we’ve had a flood for the past three days. Every time we do laundry or take a shower, we get water puddles in the kitchen, bathroom and in the hall. It’s a pain. Our house smells like a wet puppy.
We’ve got a plumber coming out tomorrow, but considering that the water is coming out of the walls, I doubt that he’ll get the job done in one day. We might be showering at your house…
We’ve also been informed that our windows are being replaced in the two bedrooms. They are going to cut out two feet of concrete to install window wells. From what I gather, this will be terribly messy. AND, the foundation of the house leaks everytime there is a decent rain/snow storm.
So, combine this with the close of tax season and a baby coming in the next few weeks, and you can see why our heads our spinning.
On the other hand, we have good health and the cutest baby on the planet on the way. It’s a good life we live…just right now, it smells like we have a shaggy horse living with us
